How to order a Commission
Thank you for your interest in my work. No doubt you will be looking for a price list. This is something that would be impossible to put together, as each new commission is considered and designed from scratch and is as individual as the customer and their preference, and it is only after the first consultation that an assessment of the work involved can be made so that I can give a quotation of price.
Stage one
Contact is made by email or telephone or a home consultation made to discuss what you would like to commission. This in no way commits you to anything, although a charge for travelling may be made. This is deductable from the final price if the project goes ahead.
Stage two
When you have decided what you would like to commission a contract is drawn up describing the stages and cost of production. Producing any work of art takes time, but a commission is not accepted unless it can be completed it in a reasonable time. Most works can be completed within three months of a commissioning contract being taken on. Shopping centre tiling will take a lot longer!
Stage three
When the contract is signed by both of us, a deposit of one third of the whole price must be paid before work can commence. This pays for the detailed design and materials and safeguards against hoax commissioning. Your safeguard is your signed contract which will be honoured and is enforceable.
This level of service is not given at an ‘off the peg’ price, but the prices I do charge are always reasonable for the quality and service that you will receive.
There is no range of products or sizes - just possibilities and expertise.
In nearly every case I underestimate the amount of work involved, so value for money will follow naturally from that.
As a quick guide to pricing, some of the high resolution examples shown on the website have the price that was charged to the client at the time.
If you particularly like something that would be too expensive for your project, it may well be possible to design something less complicated to produce, or smaller in size, that would carry a smaller price tag.
